Lecture letter contract (made on lecturer's letterhead)

Dear ____________________,

I will be delighted to accept your kind invitation to lecture at __________, on ________, 20__, and I write this letter to serve as a contract between us regarding the terms and details of my visit. It is my intention to travel by (mode of transportation) to (sponsor's location) on (date or dates) and (description of the services lecturer will perform.)

In return, you agree to pay my round trip travel expenses in the amount of $_____ two weeks prior to my trip, an honorarium of $_____ on the day of my lecture, and an additional sum of $_____ for food and lodging, (plus any other expenses, list here.) I will require (list AV needs) and inform you that any (recordings, transcripts, reproductions of artwork for advertising the lecture( are copywritten to me and may not be used without my written permission. I will be happy to lend (sponsor) the examples of my work indicated in the schedule of artworks on the loan agreement attached hereto provided (sponsor) is responsible for all crating, shipping, security, and insurance expenses as provided. (attach loan agreement documents)

If, for some reason such as illness, I should be unable to perform (sponsor) would not be liable for payment, but I would hope we could re-schedule. In the case where (sponsor) cancels the engagement, any expenses I have already incurred would be (sponsor's) responsibility.

This letter (and attached documentation, if any,) constitutes the complete and binding agreement between us and may only be modified in writing. If it conforms to your understanding of our arrangement, make this a contract between us by signing both copies and returning one to me.
